THE SYSTEM
HIGHLIGHTS AND OVERVIEW OF EPGP
A. Definition:
EPGP stands for an Event Points/Gear Points system. Our EPGP has three aspects to it. Each aspect will be explained in further details below.
1. Event Points (EP) and Gear Points (GP) are awarded to raid members during a raid.
2. Priority Rating (PR) is used to determine who gets loot and is based on the following formula: PR = EP / GP.
3. Decay and Penalty systems which can affect your EP and GP earned.
B. Abbreviations:
EP = Event Points (Awarded for Participation, sometimes called Effort Points)
GP = Gear Points (Loot Value)
PR = Priority Rating (Number used to determine who gets Loot)
EVENT POINTS (EP) AND GEAR POINTS (GP)
A. Event Points:
Your EP will continue to build as you raid more and more with the guild. Being ready to raid at the start time will earn you a set number of EP. Being in the raid from start to finish will also earn you a set number of EP. There will be no partial credit for attendance. Your EP goes down through being Penalized (see below) and through Decay (see below). All Event Points values will be listed here in its own guide. (see below) Event points are always awarded AFTER the raid, so each current boss kill/attempt will never affect your PR rating during the raid.
Event points are currently accumulated for the following things:
1. Showing up to a raid on time.
2. Staying to the end of the raid.
3. Boss attempts/Boss kills.
For Example:
Person A is ready for the Naxxramas raid on time, at the instance or ready to be summoned, repaired and with reagents so gets 50 EP. Person A participates in killing Anub'Rekhan(25 EP), Grand Widow Faerlina(50 EP), Grand Widow Faerlina(50 EP), Noth the Plaguebringer(50 EP), Heigan the Unclean (75 EP) and Loatheb(100 EP). The total EP for all the bosses is 350. Person A stays for the full length of the raid and gets another 50 EP. Person A has accumulated a total of (50 + 350 + 50) = 450 EP.
B. Gear Points:
Gear Points are awarded for each item you receive based on its quality and level. Each item already has a set GP in the game. Your GP number will continuously go up as you accrue gear. GP will also be affected by Decay (see below), but not by Penalties. All first time raiders start with a GP value of 1 until they receive an item. This is due to the way PR is calculated (PR = EP/GP). If you divide your EP value by 0 (no GP points) then you get a PR rating of 0 (for all practical purposes.) All Gear Points values will be listed here in its own guide. This guide will be updated for items as members receive new loot. When you receive an item in game it will get added in to calculate your new PR rating, which will now be lower. This gives other people who may be close to your PR rating a chance to also get loot during a raid.
For Example:
The item
Betrayer of Humanity
worth 128 GP. Person A from the example above has 450 EP. Their new Priority Rating (PR) after receiving the item would be (450 / 12 = 3.52%
If you want to understand more about how GP is configured for items you can check out the following websites: What is EPGP? and WoWhead. Wowhead will give you the item level for any drop in the game. Take that item level and compute the calculations towards the bottom of the EPGP website. During a raid this will be done by the DKP Leader and is not something that needs to be worried about calculating. When loot is being decided on the DKP Leader will announce the GP value of each item. As items get added to the guild website their GP will also be added.
LOOT PRIORITY & PRIORITY RATING (PR)
A. Overall Practice:
Loot Priority Rating (PR) is determined by dividing your current EP by your current GP. PR = EP/GP. This is the number that will determine who gets the loot when multiple people are interested in the item. Since this system is a relational one, based on your EP (Participation) and GP (Gear awarded) combined, it is actually easy for new people coming in to get gear after meeting the minimum requirements (see below). Note that PR rating is not affected by the current raid or the item being bid on, but only by your previous EP/GP. At the beginning of each raid the PR values from the website will be uploaded to the game. When a new item is requested it will be based on your PR rating without calculating the new item into it. After you 'win' the item, your GP rating will be changed and therefore reflect a new PR rating (Remember: PR=EP/GP).
For Example:
EP GP PR
Person C 200 100 2
Person D 100 1 100
So in this example Person C and Person D want the same item,
So in this example Person C and Person D want the same item,
Gloves of the Lost Protector
Refresh This Item. Person C has a PR of 2: (200 / 100) = 2. Person D has a PR of 100: (100 / 1) = 100. Person D would get the item over Person C.
Note that the GP value of the item is irrelevant for the bidding process as it does not affect your PR rating until after you receive the item. If the GP value of
Gloves of the Lost Protector
Refresh This Item is 333 then Person D has a new GP value of: (1 + 333) = 334. Their new PR rating is: (100 / 334) = .30. Person D has a new PR rating of .30 which will affect his/her chances at getting the next piece of loot.
With this example you can see that the system is designed to reward people who participate more and have less gear. The higher a person's EP, the more they participate. The lower a person's GP, the less gear they have. New people who have met the Minimum Requirements to become a Raid Member will be at an advantage if they have not accrued any gear yet.

DECAY & PENALTY SYSTEM
A. Decay System
The Decay System is designed to be a gradual decay over time of your EP and GP points. This is to prevent DKP hording. Our current decay system will be 25%. Every day your EP and GP points will slowly decay at a rate of 25% in 7 days, until each raw point is equal to .10 points. It takes 56 days for each point to decay to .10 point.
B. Penalty System
The Penalty System is designed to punish people for unacceptable behavior. The following penalties will be enforced by the Raid Leader:
* -250 EP penalty for signing up for a raid but not showing up. This penalty will not be enforced if you notify the raid leader 24 hours in advance or find a suitable replacement for your class function.
* If you leave during a Raid for any reason other than an unavoidable problem you will suffer -250 EP.
* If you go AFK for a long period of time (more than 10 minutes) without letting the raid leader know you will suffer -150 EP.
